Worker Information
All workers must meet the following criteria to qualify for Job Postings:
- Must be legally allowed to work in the (US) United States. Immigration status
must allow you to work and you must have proper documentation to support this
claim (e.g., work permit, permanent alien card, I-94, SS card, etc.)
- Must have valid form of ID, which should consist of one of the following:
- State issued drivers License
- State issued ID card
- Passport
- State Issued Picture ID
If you meet these criteria, we can place you on any job as long as you meet the
specific qualifications for each category. The certifications listed below are
the most common when working in the environmental field. There are of course
additional certifications you can receive which will give you an edge over other
workers who lack these certifications. If you desire to get a leg up on
the competition, acquiring these certfications will definitely help you at some
point.
Asbestos Work:
- Valid Asbestos Hard Card: Cannot be expired at any time during
the duration of a job. For example, hard cards usually expire on the last day of
your birth month. You must receive your new card before the first day of the
following month or you will be taken off the job. Please ensure you take your
refresher on time to avoid this predicament.
- Valid (DOH 2832) Training Certification: This is the half sheet
of grey paper that shows the date you took your refresher course. It also states
the score you received on your test. This form is issued by the training center
where you took your class upon passing your course. Note: A big diploma style
paper that shows you took a refresher course IS NOT VALID as
proof of training. Only the small half sheet is valid.
- Medical Clearance: A clearance form from any medical center
that states that the physical they performed, which must include a PFT,
concludes you are fit to wear a respirator.
- OSHA (10 Hour) Safety Course: OSHA training is required for
placement on any job site with M&V Labor. You must have at least a 10 hour
course. Individuals with 30 hour courses have also satisfied this requirement
and can work.
HazMat Work:
- 40 Hour Hazardous Materal Training Course: This is a 5 day
course given by your training center and consist of hands on training as well as
a class tutorial which culminates in a exam you must pass to receive
certification.
- Medical Clearance: A clearance form from any medical center
that states that the physical they performed, which must include a PFT,
concludes you are fit to wear a respirator.
- OSHA (10 Hour) Safety Course: OSHA training is required for
placement on any job site with M&V Labor. You must have at least a 10 hour
course. Individuals with 30 hour courses have also satisfied this requirement
and can work.
Lead Abatement:
- Lead Abatement Certification: 40 hour course obtained through
your training facility that requires hands-on as well as classroom instruction.
There is a test at the end of the course which you must pass to receive
certification.
- Medical Clearance: A clearance form from any medical center
that states that the physical they performed, which must include a PFT,
concludes you are fit to wear a respirator. Blood work must also be conducted at
the contractors expense so that your doctor can monitor the lead content of your
blood to ensure you have not been over exposed.
- OSHA (10 Hour) Safety Course: OSHA training is required for
placement on any job site with M&V Labor. You must have at least a 10 hour
course. Individuals with 30 hour courses have also satisfied this requirement
and can work.
Confined Space:
This certification works in conjuction with any of the above licenses. You must
have all of the above for the particular job you are performing. This is an 8
hour course that you take at your training facilty which certifies that you know
the dangers of working in confined spaces and are aware of the health hazards.
Additional Training:
- Scaffold Training: Trains you on scaffold safety and the way to
properly use scaffolding devices.
- Lift Training: Trains you on how to operate different style
lifts which will result in a safe work environment.
- Forklift Driver: Trains you on how to properly operate a fork
lift and the precautions you must take while using one to ensure safety.
